...And We’re Properly Chuffed!
We’re proud to share that Lynch Motors has been awarded the Commercial Award at the 2025 Sustainable Boating Awards, hosted by the Inland Waterways Association (IWA).
The IWA is the UK’s leading waterways charity, working to protect, improve and future-proof our canals and rivers. So to be recognised by them, especially for our contribution to sustainability, really does mean a lot. We are genuinely chuffed.
Recognised for Making Hybrid Technology Accessible
The Commercial Award is given to the business judged to have made the most valuable contribution to sustainable boating over the past year.
Lynch Motors has been recognised for our work developing parallel hybrid systems — offering boat owners a practical and affordable way to retrofit electric propulsion to existing diesel boats, without needing a full engine replacement.
Our aim has always been simple: make greener, electric propulsion realistic, not complicated.
“We’re engineers at heart — we don’t chase headlines, we just build solutions that work. That’s why this award means something.” Trevor Lees, Managing Director
Congratulations to the Other Winners
A big well done also to:
- Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust — winners of the Non-Commercial Award, recognised for their forward-thinking sustainability strategy across their fleet. And all of the other individuals recognised for their huge efforts.
It’s encouraging to see so others pushing in the same direction.
Onwards and Upwards
Earlier this year, Lynch Motors also received the Best Product Award at the Crick Boat Show, the largest inland waterways festival in the UK. Back in 2023 we also won an Innovation Award for our collaborative work with the University of Exeter’s Centre for Future Clean Mobility (CFCM), developing the next generation of electric boat motors.
This award is a proud moment — but it’s not the finish line. We’ll keep refining our hybrid technology and working with boatyards, owners and communities to make cleaner, greener cruising the norm, not the exception.
Thanks to innovations like our popular hybrid solution, Red Snapper, you may well already have spotted electric boats powered by Lynch Motors in harbours and waterways across the UK, helping make local waters cleaner and quieter for everyone.
If you’d like to know more about hybrid retrofits and our ‘Red Snapper’ solution or chat through what’s possible for your vessel, just get in touch. We talk human!
